In LOTR/Silmarillion: Imrahil, Fingolfin, and Finrod Felagund.

Yes, I totally dig bad ass supporting characters.

I haven't read any others- came across Slaughterhouse 5 completely by accident when someone lent me it but it's one of the best books I've read! Which others would be good to try next?

Lisbeth Salander is wonderful character. She's such a contradiction of appearance and emotion. There are parts of her which I find to be inspirational. She has this survival instinct, sheer determination and intelligence that I admire. I also love how she's content and accepting of who she is. How she stubbornly tilts her chin to society and lives by her own rules and morals.

Salander also makes me think about the positives of seeking justice for yourself and the problems that would cause if everyone was to behave that way.

Right now, my favorite is Steerpike from The Gormenghast Novels by Mervyn Peake.

Breakfast Of Champions is a great book by Vonnegut, as is God Bless You Mr. Rosewater, and Cats Cradle.

Yes, you nailed it! I very much love her, its pretty interesting how Stieg built her up. Grown up version of Pippi, born on Walpurgis Night (Ironic, specially with the 2nd book's title) and where she lives "V. Kulla".

She just wants to live and survive, that's beauty.
