Does this happen to you to? When I have something in my hands (pencils, pens, cutlery, towels, etc.) I begin to subconciously chew or bite it; and when I don't have something in my hands, I start biting my fingers. It gets worse when I have rage outbursts, because I even bite pillows, notebooks, and symilar things. I tried to stop it, but I couldn't.
Is there any way to stop it?

It's called an "oral fixation" and it is a form of stimming. I do it too, but it has lessened with age. Part of why it has gone down has been a conscious effort on my part to stop doing it, at least in ways that impact my life in public. I still bite my nails and any excess skin, but I have lessened the amount of things I put in my mouth that other people might have to touch, like pens and pencils for example.

I have that too. Have tried to stop it over the years but only reduced how much I bite.
When I was a very small child (I was told later) i nibbled away most of my baby blanket. As for stopping the biting, all I know that works is to tell one's self, “stop!" every time you put something in your mouth. Stress and emotion often show up as biting before I consciously know I'm upset.
As outofplace said, I too no longer put objects that have been handled by others in my mouth due to germs.

Been there - gnawed on a lot of things when I was young. Parents worked hard to get me out of the habit so ended up moving onto other stimming behavior. Now am just "fidgety".

I do this quite a bit. My parents say that I used to chew on the legs of the coffee table when I was a child. I bite my fingernails and pretty much anything that I am holding onto. My husband has his own stash of pens because I have chewed on most of the pens that are lying around here.

I used to do this all the time. It is a form of stimming, and it only stopped when I replaced it with another form of stimming...

I used to do it a lot when I was younger. I used to always chew the neckline of my shirt. :>

I was all over this as a kid. Some antidepressants can help with it, as Wellbutrin did for me (but it was not the reason I took it, just a positive side effect).
