So yeah my left hand seems to be going numb (pins and needles feeling) quite a lot during the day, mostly when Im not doing anything but laying on the couch or trying to get to sleep. At first I thought it was just me laying on my arm and cutting circulation or something, but recetnly ive observed it happening even when my arm is just sitting on the armrest of a chair, so I know theres no direct blockage to ciurculation happening.

Also my hands tend to go quite red when i let them hang at my sides, if I lift them above heart level they change back to normal colour, any idea what could be causing these things to happen? Carpal Tunnel? Bad circulation?

I keep getting paranoid that im gonna have a heart attack or something as they say the first thing you feel is shooting sensations in your left arm.

Gosh, I don't know. Ironically, I'm having left hand problems right now too! Except I know why: it's self-inflicted (but not purposeful). I use the mouse with my left hand and I think I've developed a repetitive stress injury (I do hours of imaging via a specialised programme). Ouch.

Firstly when I read your post I thought the same. Then you wrote that you're experiencing symptoms even when you're not using your hand/arm, with indicates something else. If you are in otherwise good health, with no other symptoms, I really doubt you're prone to a heart attack but you should see your GP right away. Maybe you have a pinched nerve? Or an orthotic problem such that your bones aren't aligned properly. Anyhow, I hope your arm feels better soon and your doctor can sort out your mystery symptoms.

I get tingling sometimes when my tendinitis is acting up. But the fact that your hands get red and raising your arms makes the redness go away makes it seem that maybe it's circulation, and I would definitely see a doctor about it.

google said it could be a splinter fracture in a bone of your hand or maybe Erythromelalgia. (although the latter doesn't include numbness and looks to be symmetrical)

I get numbness in the ring and pinky fingers of both hands when I bike because my ulnar nerve gets a little pinched due to my poor posture. Do you do any repetitive motions or put weight on your left hand in a repetitive way? (lean on your left hand/elbow a lot?) The redness is definitely weird though. See a doctor.

Yeah, I know how that is, I avoid doctors like the plague if I can help it. But sometimes we really need them - or at least their ability to test and diagnose odd things - even if it's just for our peace of mind. Sending you well wishes.
