Someone mentioned metal not being able to express somber/subtle emotions.

Might I recommend Agalloch's "The Mantle" album? Probably one of the most somber albums I've heard.

Of course I was just making a generalization. There are exceptions to everything. There were a few songs in my massive dump that were more subtle.

It's not really hateful. He is speaking out against those who would preach hatred and tell others how to think or feel. His message is a positive one.

Because the lyrics are not super hostile, but I was claiming them to be. Am I the one not understanding the term?

I really wish i could enjoy Death's vocals and get past the production, the music itself and the lyrics seem great.

No you’re right, but for me there’s no denying that a lot of good ones do.
That being said I'm a fan of other less hateful bands too, Maiden, Agalloch, Death, Nocturnus, Mortification, Kvist, Primordial just to name a bare few.

Pretty sure death and nocturnus had SOME hate in there lol

Well, I never said these bands were devoid of hate, just that they have a LOT less than the ones I mentioned earlier who seem to have nothing but hatred and intolerance for certain ideals/ways of life, be it Christianity, Judaism, political correctness etc.

As strange as it may seem to some I wouldn’t consider someone like Cannibal Corpse a particularly hateful band even if their lyrics revolve around gore, mutilation, zombies, B horror movie themes etc.

And no, I don't consider Death and Nocturnus as being particularly hateful dm acts, though it doesn't matter as this doesn't stop "Scream Bloody Gore" and "The Key" from being absolute classics.

Should try making brony metal.

For one, I tend to stick to that too - but I still enjoy core.

Brony metal:

Anyway, I think brony metal would actually be a very interesting movement myself, lol

Brony Metal actually is pretty interesting. Like the rest of the metal scene today it has too high of a concentration of metalcore, but it has other stuff as well. One thing interesting about it is that the brony music scene has a whole has a large amount of collaboration between artists, which has resulted in some interesting creations when the electronic and rock artists collaborate.

Anyway, here are some Brony Metal artists, or Rock artists that produce a significant amount of Metal:

Bronyfied
Cyril
Dethonator
Prince Whateverer
Tarby
NeedsMoreDjent/Pinkie Guy
Metalcore Pony
ISMBOF

Brony metal would have lyrics about friendship and saving the day.

I don't like the whole brony subculture, but I have to admit it'd be pretty funny to hear brony metal. It's be a version of Dio that doesn't take itself seriously haha. (Before anyone complains about that comment, I like Killswitch Engage's cover of Holy Diver)

It exists, I posted links to a bunch of YouTube channels that do that. You'll be surprised at the lyrical themes of some of them...

I like some metal, but I’m picky about it. I don’t really know what the sub-genres are, but probably there is one that is what I prefer. I like to be able to understand the lyrics (rather than it just being unintelligible roaring) and some have lots of noises that hurt my ears.

I have not observed that metal is all that popular among others with ASD, probably approximately the same percentage as non-ASD. Granted my experience is quite possibly too limited to really give any sort of indication.
