Easier being friends with males than females.
I have this issue, and think that at its core is the fact that Aspie allegiance is to the truth not social niceties and pretence - NT women learn to be manipulative to get what they want as their way of being "feminine" - and we aspie women just don't get that - and we don't want to be like that (even if we could be). We don't play their games and they don't like it. So they exclude us. At least that's been my experience. And their behaviour to me has been very hurtful a lot of the time, they have been fair weather friends, when they want something or want to use me in some way, for example they are bored, and I'm used as an entertainment. It took me a long time to realise this, I thought they valued me for me but they didn't. Ouch. :
I relate to this. I prefer the company of males definately but it is hard to stay friends with males as they may often want more than friendship.
I have been told on many occassions I am attractive ( I will always deny this as I am not model pretty and don't concern myself with how I or other people look anyways). It is difficult for me to read a persons interest in me and I find attention difficult to know how to respond to.
Any guy I would call a friend, not just a course mate/ acquaintance/ work colleague, a friend I socialise with has told me they love me/ like me/ or asked every few weeks if I am still with my boyfriend.
Therefore it is hard to maintain male friendships for me.
I have not had much luck with female friends either....... till I met my bestie! She is perfect, doesn't compete against me, is supportive, is direct, isn't the least bit nasty, and is interesting ! Other friends have come and gone but this girl I think we shall be friends for life. It has taken me over 20 years to find such a great friend, great things come to those who wait, meanwhile focus on your interests
