Do you think it's right to hate Adam Lanza or do you think we should feel sorry for someone who is messed up enough to do something so horrible?

What are your thoughts...

There is no point in hating him. He was a screwed up person and did a dreadful thing.

There are many mad persons going about and many of those are very well capable of horrendous crimes. The issue is not hating them, but detecting them and perhaps preventing them from doing very damaging acts.

Waste of time hating him, and I can't find a second's sympathy for someone who killed innocent kids. Regardless of how screwed up he was, those children had nothing to do with that.

It hasn't yet occurred to me to consider hating him.
It's just too bad that someone wasn't able to put a few bullets in him at the beginning of his spree to at least minimize the tragic losses.....

no. hate involves a level of respect. notoriety is a kind of acknowledgement, one he doesn't deserve.

It may be of some use to know why he did it.

Yes it would, but we can do that without getting into hating him, which to me is a waste of energy on someone who doesn't deserve a minute's emotion of mine.

Try to find out what led to this and try to help others who struggle. He was obviously struggling so.

I don't hate him, I hate the atrocious acts he has carried out.
I would like to try and understand what would drive someone to kill so many innocent children.
I believe this senseless act was avoidable, if this kid got better treatment and better support it's highly probable this incident would have never occurred.
It's also true that someone who is clearly mentally ill should not be in possession of destructive weapons.
The weapons should have been confiscated from his mother.

Hopefully we can honor the innocent children by doing something effective about this; better mental healthcare and stricter gun control laws.

Adam Lanza is an abstract image. A haphazard construct of slithers of information. I can't like that or hate that. It's like punching air.

As far as actions go, the murder of children is of course deplorable. I know this idea of Adam Lanza only through this one action. I have no conception of him as a human being that lived 20 years, except being told that.

Would you expend emotion "hating" Hurricane Sandy?
I doubt it.

Same thing.

Hating him would be a waste of time. I do however, would understand why you hate him.

I don't see the point, why should we hate him?
If you ever lost control over yourself you probably know how it feels. We don't know what had happened in his mind. We don't know anything. How can you judge something if you don't know their story?

I see it like this;
I understand vigilantism is wrong, but If I had a chance to stop and by stop I mean kill, I would.
He surrenders his rights the moment he pulled the trigger. After murdering children, I would have killed him where he stood.

Best Regards,

Jake
