An Autism Pride Parade sounds like a good idea, however in reality it would be a nightmare for all those suffering from sensory and various issues
I participated in several Autistic Pride parades. Participants took care not to walk too close to each other, so there was no accidental touching. Some participants, who were hypersensitive to sound, wore noise-blocking headphones. Overall, it worked fine even for participants with strong sensory issues.

In my mind an Autism Pride Parade would be for all ages. Yet some of us have trouble being in crowds, and a lot of meltdowns would likely occur
The Autistic Pride parades I participated in included participants of many ages, including a few babies and some rather old people. I only witnessed a few meltdowns, and they didn't interfere with the success of the parades.

Autistic Pride Parade should take place on Autistic Pride Day (18th June):

We've celebrated autistic pride day here in Helsinki for years. One year we actually had an autism pride parade. It created a bit of controversy in our aspie community and we haven't done it since.

Helsinki?
Did either Heta, Lua, or Jan-Mikael came along?
(I've known Heta online and I've met Lua and Jan-Mikael at Autscape)

You should do it again.

On a personal level I despise parades. They're loud, obnoxious and overtly social - exactly what you need to get attention and change ideas. Other than that, I don't really have a huge amount to say. I'd definitely like to see some way of communicating what autism actually is to the majority of people who clearly lack understanding of it.

I think a parade would be better suited to a) "Showing the flag", that neuro-diversity exists, and b)raising awareness of Aspie organizations with those who might be interested in joining/supporting them.

Morph suits would increase our stats.

I might be interested but in reality don't think I could, See the thing is this kind of thing sounds like a place I won't fit in. Especially since I am in love with the autism awareness ribbon and make a point to wear it for April.i have loved it since the first day I saw it. It fir me so well and it saddens me greatly that people take offence to it. You see for me the piece sy alive how I see this world as a great puzzle. And yes that autism is puzzling. The truth is to me all people are puzzling too. I also love how unique it is. I don't know I geuss I'm a bad autistic but the ribbon is very special to me<3

I also LOVE the organization that created it. The autism society of America is a great organization!! !! I really like them a lot to. I think autism speaks has done a lot to damage the view of the puzzle piece. What most don't know is the multi colored puzzle ribbon is from the autism society of America and they have a nice explanation for it.

So I geuss the issue is I wouldn't fit in :/

I'm proud of who I am and proud of the ribbon

I have to admit I don't understand the above post. Was this posted in the correct thread?
