Im an Australian-born Chinese who grew up in a predominantly anglo-saxon society
and found it hard to integrate because I was more interested in studying, video games and reading books rather than playing sports and socialising with kids

Now, whenever I talk to either group, I always feel isolated.

Does anyone else with a similar background experience this as well ?

I grew up in an all-black neighborhood. I was interested in ballet, they were into basketball. I adored Mozart, they into soul and r&b. I wore rags, they were concerned with well-tailored clothes and fancy haircuts. I worshipped the written word, they could care less. Tough time, indeed.

Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. Growing up gay in a religious, straight neighborhood I did.
