I've been reading the webcomic Concession...
I was on TV Tropes the other day, and I was checking out the 'So Bad, It's Good' page. Concession showed up in the webcomics section, so I decided to sample some of it to have a laugh.
And I'm not sure that it fits the 'So Bad, It's Good' moniker, but I was smitten with this strange little comic. Now, it delves into highly controversial territory, and often for apparent shock value. It's not for the faint of heart, as it features such things as rape, paedophilia, and incest, on top of being a furry comic.
But I find that the characters (in all their diversity), the antics they get up to, the snideness in their interactions, and the zany yet carefree atmosphere that's prevalent (beside the very dark turns the story tends to take), are right up my alley. Especially it's main character, Joel the wolf, the sarcastic bad boy of the group, strikes a chord with me.
I'm unfamiliar with furry fandom, but as an outsider I found this comic to be very enjoyable, at least when I read it from the earliest comics onward. I guess the later years become a bit convoluted, and sometimes a single webcomic from those latter days doesn't feature a single gag, but by the time I was reading those, I was so invested in and familiar with the characters, they could honestly take me anywhere.
So yeah, if you have a strong stomach, if you can handle some NSFW strips (certainly not all of them), if you don't mind dark subplots, and if you like super furry animals throw down at a cinema concession stand, then you could check out Concession. Aside from the icky stuff, it's also one grand celebration of queerness, so that was also what drew me in.
