I loved the books despite the YA stigma some males seem predisposed to. The film was good as well and I have a huge amount of respect for Jennifer Lawrence. As much as I enjoyed them, I didn't obsess over 'em even half as much as the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings book series. Still, I respect your obsession :).

Thanks windtreeman. Jennifer Lawrence is an amazing actor. Same for Josh Hutcherson. :D

Love the first book. Second and third were only okay, due to my dislike of movie theaters and less-than-enthusiasm for films in general, I haven't seen the movie.

I could never get into them for some reason. I'm more of a Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings type of person myself as well.

The books were kinda fun in a lighthearted way and worth reading, but I don't think they were that good.

They looked really juvenile and immature, and I mocked my college friend for reading them. That being said, right now I'm reading something called A History of Chemical and Biological Weapons, so that's probably why I dislike the Hunger Games.

Wow I'm really surprised by this response ifound them pretty addictive- I read then all in 6 days and loved them except the last which had a really stupid ending I think.

You're not the only one.
I admit it, the American Civil War is my main passion, but back in March, it was the Hunger Games. I even wrote music for the Hanging Tree song in Mockingjay. When I first saw the movie a few months later, I realized I had the exact same chord progression as the music when Katniss is going into the woods before the Reaping. Strange? That's just proof that great minds, when thinking of the Hunger Games, think alike.

I enjoyed them very much. But where I would love imagining myself living within the Lord of the Rings, I would fear having to live within the confines of the totalitarian government depicted in the Hunger Games. I read the books first then watched the movie on my computer. I really cried when Rue got killed.

Love them. My favorite was Mockingjay (I don't see why so many people dislike it, get over yourselves, people have to die)
