Hi all,

I have some really good news. It has been one year since I was let go from a job that I was dramatically unhappy at, and thought I would never be happy again when I was let go. One year later, postdiagnosis, joining wrong planet and autismhangout and getting mentoring from a learning disabilities group, I am happier in my work life. I have been told by family, friends, and even casual acquaintances without asking them that I have really grown up and gotten confident. My quirks seem to be absorbed by my work environment, which I am so happy in.

It really does get better.

One day, I would really like to pay all this forward in some way.

Should also mention that my newer job has fewer responsibilities and better pay.

Congratulations! I, too, recently got an excellent job after a series of dead-end jobs and ones that simply didn't work out for me due to various reasons, AS included. This one involved me moving cross-country from Arizona to Virginia and moving in with a friend, paying rent of course. I find I'm happier and more relaxed, and making good money. I get along great with the customers (a huge change from all my previous positions) and find my Asperger's to be a benefit instead of a detriment.
