Is the case for an Autistic country really that implausible?

Surely there must be the funds among us to purchase a land somewhere, and we surely cant do a worse job of running a country than the NT's have thus far.

This kind of thinking is senseless. This sense of superiority.

We are are all different, just because we are on the spectrum doesn't mean you are like me, or we would get on.

You can't do anything with just one type of person, society would collapse.

The problem is not NTs, it is human nature.

Well, it's not like there's a lot of terra nullius lying around. It's not enough to own land, after all, the Pincipaility of Hutt River hasn't gone anywhere. Although I suppose we could offer to take Bir Tawil off Egypt and Sudan's hands, provided that we promise not to go after the Hala'ib Triangle.

When it comes to buying an existing country, your options are pretty limited. I don't think that the Prince of Liechtenstein is particularly interested in selling any time soon, plus we would have the problem of a local population that we would have to exterminate.

However, as far as running a country is concerned, I think we are eminently capable of failure.

I think the world sucks more because of indoctrination, rather than "human nature". I think the whole "human nature" argument against alternatives ways of organization is weak and lazy one at that. We can change the norms. It may be hard, but it isn't impossible.

And what is 'having an autisitic country' supposed to accomplish anyway?

for one thing, our disability is caused by interaction with NT's. If we had a place where autistics were the majority, there we would no longer be 'disabled'. It would be a place to cultivate autistic culture, without fear of reprimand or judgement. I'm increasingly convinced that it is impossible to reach a happy symbiosis with NT's purely because they outnumber us 100 to 1. Due to those odds, there is no onus on them to run things in a way that makes sense to us.

No, because logically the OP should not want the autistic nation to exist and, furthermore, have no real objection to terrorist groups who want to annihilate the autistic nation in question and wipe out all the autistics living there, purely because they're autistic.

tenuous analogy. I'm not talking about pushing an indigenous people off their land under physical duress, but purchasing uninhabited land and setting up there. I thought I covered this in the opening post, do keep up.

http://www.wikihow.com/Start-Your-Own-Country

or another option, is if we can get enough of us in one specific part of the world we could start a secessionist movement.

This.

So, how exclusive would this community be? Would we put up walls and send out armed patrols to make sure the NTs don't get in? Do we let NTs in in the first place? And if we let them in, would they be allowed to move in as well? What about all the non-autistic children that are born to those of us on the spectrum? What about the NT spouses? Or will we just run it according to... whatever structure you seem to think that all autistic people crave (I am almost positive it is not the same across the board)? Will the aforementioned NTs among us be made to suffer because among a predominantly AS/autistic population, they are the ones with disorders? How will that solve anything?

Doesn't it make more sense to work towards improving situations at home?

I agree. I honestly don't think an autistic country would work - for reasons already stated by the posters I'm quoting. We aren't superior to NT's. We're different from NT's. Autistic people and NT's need to learn to work together.
Besides, how would the people with really severe autism - the type that bangs their heads against walls - get help? How would the people with low-functioning autism get help? And how would the autistic country function? I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but autism is classified as a disability in this world for a reason. Autistic people often need help in order to function in the world. I'm not saying that people with autism are imperfect or something because they have it - everyone has issues, and everyone needs help at some point.

Anyway, my point is, your model of an autistic-only utopia simply doesn't work. It simply wouldn't be able to function.

I predict problems with world trade happening here considering this country may have problems interacting with those NTs in other ones... Lack of trade is bound to stunt GDP growth and consequently standard of living in this country you are proposing

So I guess that we would live in an aspie social paradise but environmental hell without the comforts of our regular lives (assuming you are used to the comforts of living in a developed country).

That would be like having "an alcoholics only country".

Ok...bad example. They already have that. Its called "Ireland".

It would be like "a bipolar only country"!

Well- okay they already have that- its called "Sweden".

Okay... it would be like "an obese only country".

Well...we already have that here in the United States.

Hmmmm...

Maybe this idea isnt so crazy after all!

Lol!

You rather enjoy trading on racist stereotypes, don't you?

And, to speak up for Ireland for a moment: in terms of European alcohol consumption, it's actually more or less in the middle. Calling Moldovans and people like that alcoholics would be far more true to life, but wouldn't be as much fun.

Yeah I agree. Creating a nation of people with a particular disorder is just ridiculous. Why not create a blind nation and a cerebral palsy nation. What makes us so special?
