Hello.

my name's Jacob, and i am new to the community.

I am not sure if i actually have some form of autism yet. i am talking to my therapist about the possibility.

some background on me:

i'm 33, and i am a video editor and motion graphics artist. i have wild and varied interests in computers, biology, et cetera. i love to write, but i do not do it often enough.

early in life, i was tested with a really high IQ, but i performed horribly in school, both socially and academically, and was listed as learning disabled with behavioral problems and possible ADHD, though nothing beyond that had been specified. it was like the therapists and school admins didn't want to deal with me, and after that, i was pushed through school, from grade to grade, rather cleanly. upon my graduation, i decided to go and get tested for learning disabilities, and was billed with ADHD and Depression. I refused treatment for years afterward, believing myself capable to handle it on my own. only now have i been thinking that autism may be a condition that i face, because of the advances in identifying autistic behaviors and symptoms. I have read a lot about the condition, and hope to find out if i am on the spectrum.

update:

i just spoke to my doctor. she thinks that there may very well be a place for me in the autism spectrum. i am being referred to a specialist.
