Why?

Ohh..

You always assumed that the she was... available.

Both attractive, and aspie, yes. But not available.

Yes, it is a bummer.

I thought they became a couple early last year.

That's ok dude, she's not a real aspie and neither is Jack. She wouldn't want to date a real aspie like myself, who is completely detached from reality. I'm sure you are a real aspie.

Well that's kind of a presumptuous thing to say

Maybe he's paying her a compliment since the term "aspie" sounds really stupid.

this is a divisive thing to say but there is some truth to it, so i feel the need to precisely delineate the truth as I see it in this matter. True it appears Jack has a somewhat less severe case of aspergers that for example than Alex, and Kirsten APPEARS to have a much milder case than either of them. I emphasize appears because I dont think its fair to claim you know someone through a few videos and pictures, and in the case of Kirsten lets not discount the factor of sexual dimorphism in the expression of aspergian traits.

I would say I feel relatively confident I have a similar severity of the syndrome as Kirsten, and it appears that over time she has shaped her image, and adjusted her behaviors to appear more unkempt and awkward than she naturally is ( based on my interpretation of her image earlier in her Autism Talk TV career). I did the same thing for a time after my self diagnosis. And Kirsten may feel more compelled to do these things being more of a public figure.

To call someone not a 'real aspie' is to forget that Autism is a spectrum. If YOU for example are able to communicate using language, you are obviously not afflicted with profound, classic autism. Therefor you are not really autistic? See its easier to forget those who cannot speak for themselves. Those of us with less severe autistic traits should be mindful of those who struggle more than we do, and those with more severe symptoms need not say we are not in the same boat and try to throw us off it, we can all try to help each other

Women with AS are more likely to put an effort into "looking" and "acting" normal when they are undiagnosed and think that they are NT - mostly because high school and college has taught them that women are more strictly held to social norms than men are, and they will be punished for it by other women if they don't. The problem with it is just that: it's all an act.
She may actually be beginning to let more of herself show, rather than acting all the time. If so, I don't see that as a bad thing.

WTF?

Just because someone can be poised in front of a camera for a few minutes proves that they can't be an aspie?

I've emceed weddings as a party deejay, and gotten crowds to do the hokey pokey for years. But I was still officially diagnosed as an aspie by a specialist.

Is this the book, "Raising Cubby"?

I wonder if Jack and Kirsten are still dating.

Edit: I've now realised that you were talking about Amy Harmon's ebook. I know that this thread is nearly 2 years old but I was just wondering if Jack and Kirsten are still together. The story in this book could be of interest to other aspies entering romancing relationships.
