My name is Joseph and I am a 30 year old male. About 10 years ago a psychiatrist that I was unable to avoid ran some tests on me and told me I had Asperger Syndrome. I did not think much about it at the time and quickly pretended to be normal so I could stop going to those visits. Ten years later I have finished college, graduate school, and work in a job I really enjoy having to do with scientific research. I am married and will have a child soon.

I came to this forum to read other people's experiences dealing with some situations because having some of the behaviors I have has made it difficult for me to deal with other people. As a college student, my behavior was not much of a problem but in graduate school and in work things have become more difficult as I have to interact with many people with big egos. As the scientific world becomes more interdisciplinary I find I have to constantly be on stage and if I act like I usually do my I feel my colleagues avoid me. Normally I would not care but at this stage in my life I need to keep my job and develop a career.

I appreciate this site and hope to learn many things from everyone.
