I'm curious, I see many Aspies talking about the rent, and not many who talk about the mortgage. I'm curious to see what people pay in rent.

Since rent prices differ so much in different countries, this is probably going to end up a US-based poll. My apologies to the rest of our membership.

For the fine print:

"Rent" would in this case be pre-utilities (unless totally bundled into the price), and net after any local/state rebates.

If you'd like to use a Cost of Living adjustment, please use Indianopolis, IN (I don't live there, but it's the "sample" I use). This probably should'nt be needed unless you live in a high-cost metro area (NYC, San Jose, San Fran, LA, Seatttle, DC, etc.)

I cut the poll off at 365 days to avoid inflation issues down the road.

Other -- I live in a room in my parents' house, and what I pay in rent is basically just the cost of my share of the utilities (so my rent varies a bit with the seasons).

$850/month rent, but I think it's too expensive. The landlord had people measuring the windows on the building recently. I think they're going to put in some new, noise suppressing ones. That means the cost will trickle down to us tenants. That means my rent will go up and I'll be forced to move. I'm not worried. They're already reserving a place beneath the Ballard Bridge for me.

I pay the mortgage. And the rates. And the water, and repairs, and utilities and insurance and

But I am happy in it :)

$495 a month, includes basic cable that I rarely watch and all utilities except for electric. Various problems with the place, though, so I can't wait until my lease is up again.

I rent a single room for 390.00 per month, all utilities included (and that also includes cable and Internet). I live with 3 other guys, and share a common kitchen, living room and bathroom in a pretty large townhouse.

I pay the mortgage. I feel fortunate that in just over a year my house will be paid off. My wife and I bought our house in 1989, and it would have been paid off much earlier had we not added onto the house two times.

You have to pay rent if you want to live in an ice-cream freezer. Gosh, your ignorance is astounding.

I own my home. No mortgage. Huge bills though. It costs over $200 per month in council tax and around $160 for gas and electricity and $80 for water. I live in UK.
