It seems unnecessary, can someone explain the necessity of an Apple TV?

It's for people who have morals about downloading TV shows, movies, and music. Those of us who don't just burn DVDs.

no, it's for wirelessly streaming your computer's movie collection to your HDTV! What's the point of wasting money on burning a DVD when you can store it on your hard drive instead?

What is the point of burning a DVD? other than because you can't buy a DVD?

I meant: find the necessity of burning a DVD.

Buy why would I spend >$250 when I can burn a DVD for free? Doesn't make sense.

It sort of ? I mean, you already spent $800+ for an HDTV so the 250 isn't that big of an extra. Burning a dvd for all of your shows is really annoying. I have 600GB worth of tv shows and movies. It would be a pain to burn a billion dvds when I can just stream them to my tv. Although, I have a laptop, so I can just plug it into my tv.
