When I was younger I was really obsessed with ceiling fans for as long as I can remember. I would always want them switched on.even in winter. At school there were fans and almost every day I would want them on. I'm not obsessed with them now but I'm interested in them and I will notice if they're in a room or not. Anyone else that are or have been obsessed with them?

Yes. Love ceiling fans and other fans. I like to have them on all the time.

I used to stare at them at night when I was a child. I found them fascinating.

Sometimes the ones with blades with reflective surfaces cause cool optical illusions when they're going really fast. It looks like the reflected objects are flickering in midair.

Yes, one of my biggest obsessions was those white ceiling fans many warehouses have. Whenever my father took me down to his work I would go crazy until I got to turn the fans on and then off again. I also worked in a small warehouse and loved the fact I was responsible for turning them on and off.

I love fans in general. I have had one while I sleep since I was very young. Some people use them for white noise. For me, it is very soothing and someone suggested it may have been similar to what we hear in utero.

I also found fans fascinating when I was younger. One of my things is I try to keep focused on one blade and follow it around and around. I am also OCD about cleaning the blades. I frequently take my box-fan completely apart and clean it.

Had one of those wobbly fans when I was about 12 in my bedroom. Luckily I has a bunkbed, and my brother was on the top!

9-year-old thread...

Ceiling fans are scary. They could fall and chop your head off (or maybe not but could cause severe injury). I always stay away from them.

As a kid, I used to be fascinated by anything spinning--fans, clothes dryers, etc. I don't know if this is more common among autistic people.

I don't sleep well without moving air. I never turn off the one in my bedroom. Been like that for at least 15 years now. I'm obsessed with making it noiseless. On my old one I removed the lamp shades so the glass won't rattle from the running motor.
