Aspie or not, isnt it ironic that society fell in love with them on screen but if they existed in real life, they'd just get bullied, again? God people are ignorant

I watched ND once & I plan never to watch it again out of feeling sorry for Jon Heder.

As for Napoleon, Deb, and Pedro all being Aspies, I will say yes.

Same goes for Kip.

I think it's very possible that Napoleon has AS (bad eye contact, uncoordinated, meltdowns, etc.) The others, I'm not really sure. Kip most likely has it, but then he could just be a typical computer geek.

Whether they have AS or not, I definitely identify with them! (Even though I wasn't picked on much in school.)

Napoleon is sooo an Aspie. Probably why I liked him so much. :D I don't know about Pedro. Deb seems to be, though.

Pedro appears to be just overwhelmed and lost possibly due to culture and language barriers.

Napoleon is soooo aspie, and do is Deb. I liked the character of Deb alot. she reminds me of myself with her selling her crafts door to door. I actually used to do that when I was little but with leftover halloween candy, and people actually bought it from me.

People, we can't just blindly label anyone who's "awkward" or friendless an Aspie. Although Napoleon Dynamite does act a bit Aspie-ish.

And I agree with those of you who say that Napoleon Dynamite's an incredibly stupid movie.

I forgot to mention that there is actually a journal article called something like: "Napoleon Dynamite: Geek or Asperger's Disorder?" It was on some database, but it wasn't available, so I didn't get to read it. I would've liked to, though...

I couldn't sit through that movie.
He seemed more slow than aspie.
They all did actually lol.

He's not like that in interviews I've seen, but he also plays the part very well in Benchwarmers.

Call it a stupid movie ...but if you remember those type of kids in your classes (I was in high school in the '80s) you'll see life from their point of view. This movie is right up there with Raising Arizona, another one of my favorites.

The movie wasn't intended to be Mission Impossible or the like. It's really one of those Film festival types so I can see why most folks don't like it. It's artsy. Now, I found it quite entertaining and I love everything from LotR, Blade, The Matrix and whatever else has guns and weapons, and a damsel in distress. 8)

I thought he had AS because he spoke in a monotone and he mostly had just one facial expression.

Problem with Napolean Dynamite was... several times Jon Heder has come out to say that the character was never intended to portray anything but a geek and the inspiration for the character was from his younger brothers and all.

I would say yes. I dug his drawing skills because they reminded me of myself. Always drawing on the back of my school papers. Maybe he is just a geek though.

Heh heh.

In my freshman year, {I am now a junior} I used to write on the back of my papers, especially ones for Algebra.

If Napolean was AS he'd actually be good at art.
