What is the crown jewel of your movie collection?

I have a few crown jewels in my collection.

Two of them are the Criterion Collection DVDs for The Killer and Hard Boiled. It's a shame I can't sell them for what they were going for on eBay about a decade ago. I wouldn't sell them anyway, but it's cool that I own DVDs that used to be worth over $300 each in eBay prices.

There is also my Japanese DVD of Kill Bill Vol. 1. About 20 seconds more graphic violence, and the fight against the Crazy 88 is in full color. I still prefer the standard version, but this is an interesting thing to own.

I also have the uncut version of Thriller - A Cruel Picture (which is now OOP), as well as an autographed (by the producers and a few members of the cast) DVD of Street Trash.

At one point, I had the original Criterion DVD release of Salo. I picked it up for $25 at Borders, and sold it for over $800 on eBay two years later. That was lucky. It's not even that great of a film.

I was wondering if anybody else had crown jewel DVDs in their collection. I'm interested in hearing about that.

My goodness. What a collection you have. Sure to induce nightmares. All that's missing is Guinea Pig 2: Flowers of Flesh & Blood, Irreversible, Interiors and anything by Takashi Miike and you're all set.

Oh, I own the Guinea Pig box set (also OOP), Irreversible (which I found to be an emotionally devastating masterpiece), and a few Takashi Miike films (my personal favorite is 13 Assassins, which is tame for his standards).

For the record, my cinematic diet is not a steady supply of sordid sex and violence. I own over 1,200 DVDs, this is just a handful of them.

No surprise, VIDEODROME: The Criterion edition.

I had previously seen the original DVD release and it's amazing how much they've cleaned up this movie. The audio is good to and I love the film score from Howard Shore.

I think it's a toss-up between these two Blu-ray sets.

The first is a Criterion. The second isn't, but it might as well be.

Good Burger. It's my favorite movie.

I think one of my crown jewels is the steelbook of David Lynch's Dune on DVD, it has both the theatrical and more importantly the three hour extended version of the movie. You can't find it anywhere but online now. And I won't ever part with it, unless the extended version is ported to blu ray, time will tell.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2

I must find me this Japanese version! The part with the extended violence is the O'ren anime scene right?

The extended 4 disc versions of the LOTR trilogy, and all four Revenge Of the Nerds movies.

My Close Encounters of the Third Kind Box Set which includes all three releases of the film: the original theatrical version, the special edition and the 30th anniversary collector's edition. it also comes with a commemorative booklet and a two sided poster, one side being a theatrical poster and the other shows a three part timeline showing where the three films differ in their footage and at what time point in the film each occurs.

Suppose it'd just be my favorite movie.
