If this seems like a rant, sorry. I have always had a problem with being taken advantage of, it happens ALOT. I have made bets with people, and they have not repaid me, they say that that bet was a joke, but i thought it was serious. This ofen leaves me with the "short end of the stick". In high school people give me so much crap on a daily basis, but there is nothing i can do about it. The burden of proof rests on the prosecution
(or accuser). All these people have to say is that nothing happened, and it makes me look like a fool, because i cant prove anything i have no evidence except what i and God know.
One last thing, why does this only work one way? When i was 10, i stole a protractor from another students desk, it was later found on the other side of the room the teacher asked 6 people if they had any info, i was the third to be asked i (of course being a 10 year old dip---) i said no. The teacher finished asking everone else. She then returned to me and said "why did you do it?" Now, i know i did wrong but i am just curious how it got back to me.
Anyway thats it.
If anyone else has no sense of deception, please speak up.

I was taken advantage of too quite a bit.

The worst was those verbal exchanges that went on between myself and another person who was using a play on words to get me to admit to liking/doing some taboo thing. My thought process circa 1992 was so concrete in nature that I was a sucker to fall for it every times, and in the end, when the other kid where walking off laughing their asses off, having accomplished their goal, I would be standing their scratching my head wondering what the heck I did wrong.

Another example of being taken advantage of
is being used by your peers who then later
congregate without you knowing, then later
tell you they had no intention of inviting you
to their gatherings. and...Oh! can you get
me a soda like it is no big deal.

The worst kind of deception is sympathy ill disguised.
I hung around role-players at Denny's for years
and at various Sci-Fi cons. They gave me minimal
attention but were mostly inclusive, and that excluded
me except for humorous value at my sake.
DECEPTION, but I let it happen so I could get attention,
or FELT LIKE(but never really did!) I BELONGED.

Wow, you must have been hanging around the wrong groups of gamers. I've always found them to be among the least likely groups of people to reject someone. And if they have, it's been based on intelligence, not silly social stuff. But gaming for me has always been a kind of training ground, anyway. It's perfect - if you screw something up in-character, well, your character's the confused one, and you were just roleplaying. Or, hey, no one can blame you for being a bad actor. Many GM's will let you do a charisma roll or the equivalent if your character gets into a situation that he'd logically be able to talk his way out of but you couldn't.

Like I said earlier in another topic, "Astrology", I am a
Libra, and very aware of it. I have always been stranger
than most silent types and have shown much resilience
because of it.
by age 15-25 I did a alot of "Rocky Horror Picture Show"
stuff. I was in casts from Berkeley, San Francisco and other
parts of the bayarea. These lost children were prime
candidates for AS status, and being HFA I thought I could
feel at home. The drugs, alchohol and sexual play were
abundant, and I was the "Bug-Eye'd-Alien". I learned from
them to be true to myself, and didn't do drugs, alcholol and
watched them decay. I am grateful for my earlier HFA
since it protected me from being victim from myself.
"The lost rejecting the lost" at such a young age was a blessing
and a gift. I am now adult and proud to say I am HFA and
full integrity intact.

P.S I never had the chance my whole life to say this,
and actually be congnitive of it and that is why I find
WrongPlanet.Net very helpful in a life full of deceptive people.

Sincerely Ghosthunter

Another memorable experience: When i was in 8th grade, i had gotten up to sharpen my pencil. the teacher threatened to give me detention for disrupting the class, i said i did not understand she said that it was common knowledge not to sharpen a pencil during note-taking. She gave me detention when i (not realizing i was being a smartass) said, "well, how can i take notes with a broken pencil.

LOL, reminds of an incident that happened in social studies class back in April 1996. It was a nice day outside, and as I walked into class, the teacher told me to open up a window, to which I did.

"Scott, Why did you open that window so hard"

These were the kind of windows that pulled open into the room, and were industrial strength, Granted I gave it a hefty pull, I've seen people hang from them with their hands and not damage them. So I was kind of perplexed as to why he was concerned about the window. Anyway, not knowing what to say, I responded.

"Well, you wanted me to open the window didn't you?"

To which he told me to go visit the office.
