I've just started The Geography of Thought, by Richard E. Nisbett, where he examines how Asian and Western thought patterns differ. It was an apposite book to discover given my interests in Taoism and how my mindset has altered over the last few years.

Widespread Panic, by James Ellroy.

Birthday present from my wife. Real life morally compromised L.A. private eye to the stars and scandal rags, Freddy Otash, made to suffer at the hands of those he had outed and abused in the next life, must make a confession of all his scams and dirty dealings at the expense of others if he wants eternal peace. Real life persons such as Rock Hudson and Liberace make appearances. Fun reading.

Is it worthwhile? I loved Morrissey and Marr: The Severed Alliance, but I feel that probably told me what I really need to know.

Absolutely yes!

It's so uplifting and funny. It's quite refreshing how he talks positively about himself. I won't give away any spoilers, but strongly recommend reading it.

I purchased my book at the book launch where there was a Q&A session with him too. 8)

I've not read The Severed Alliance.

^Thanks! That's cool that you got to meet him. The Severed Alliance does a great job of going over The Smith's history, and Marr was interviewed for the book. It's very informative, with interesting information on Morrissey's attempts to keep the band going (they did some recordings which sound like The Clash, apparently), and how both segued into solo work. Morrissey hates it, and as much as I love his music, that gives it some credibility :P. It's not all that flattering to either, but seems reliable.
