Police: Ky man threatened to eat police officer during arrest, set for arraignment

WINCHESTER, Kentucky — Police say a central Kentucky man claimed to be a cannibal and threatened to eat a police officer while being arrested.

This is not illegal, is it? If it is illegal, what would the charge be?

The article mentions "terroristic threats", but surely threats to eat people are not plausible... no reasonable person would fear this possibility.

Maybe he just wanted some pigskins to eat and they misunderstood.

I have no idea whether that is legal or not, but saying you are going to eat someone implies that you are going to kill them first. Sort of an implied death threat.

As it is not possible to eat someone without either killing them or doing them a dire injury, I think that making a threat to eat someone is a clear threat to commit murder or some other serious assault. Thus the man should be charged with making a threat of violence against the policeman.
