Has anyone ever described you as "intense"? I was told that once and was surprised, although I suppose it makes sense. I'm not intense all the time, and I can be quiet, but when I get to telling stories about myself, I can't help but get passionate about it. I just love life, and I feel like I gain a lot of excitement out of fairly mundane things.

What's up with that? I can be calm, but when I get to telling stories, even when I'm deliberately trying to be laid back, I get worked up by my own story. I'm aware of this, and I usually feel embarrassed about it because I'm afraid I'll annoy people.

Is this unique?

Yeah I've been called "intense" a lot. Not as much now, as I learn to feign not being intense for controlled periods of time.

Still intense on the inside, though.

I've been called intense by a woman that I went to college with and I've also been called intense by someone here quite a few years ago.

Yes ... often ... by my wife.

The first time was on our honeymoon.

First I was called just creepy or weird, recently I've been called 'too intense' by a number of people all at once it seems. What's wrong with intensity even if that was the case?

Yes, a lot. Especially when like you I'm talking about an interest or upset.

Yes but usually only by people who really like me and like listening to my intensity. A lot of people give me a look that says I am intense but never say anything, I don't see those people very often or ever again.

I have found that most people are quite superficial and cannot handle deep discussions. I think maybe they are not used to really thinking about things or maybe they just aren't intelligent enough to follow what is being said.

No one actually ever said it to me because no one is honest/frank enough with me, but I think "intense" is one of the words that people use to describe me. I can guess it from their reaction when I talk about certain things. I believe "creepy" and "weird" are probably other words.

Many people, throughout my life, have commented that I'm intense.

Where I am, hippie commune, "intense" seems to be the new pejorative for "uncool." I'll claim that happily. "Cool" to my ears still means casual and I'm casual about nothing.
