The Star Trek 'verse is based on Rodenberry's unsupported optimism concerning the human condition. Keep in mind we are 96 percent identical to Chimpanzees who are murderous nasty gits. They are not lovable and neither are we.

We're just as closely related to the hippie-like bonobos as we are to murderous chimpanzees.

And we also share 57% DNA with a cabbage, and 75% with a pumpkin! When was the last time you met an eveil pumpkin?

Miss Lizard, all you need to do about the new world order, is not submit to it when it comes, certainly do not bow down to it in order to recieve a mark or implant in your right hand or forehead, you will regret it if you do!

Revelation 16
2 So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.

10 Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain. 11 They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their deeds.

Jacoby, if you are correct that "there are no benevolent governments," why would one government necessarily be worse than multiple governments?
Power is easier to keep in check when it's divided than when it's concentrated.

They're obviously up to no good. I mean, it's the New World Order, it must be bad and malicious.

Oh, and just to be clear to my fellow Aspies, the above is sarcasm.

While I'm sure there are people whom support world government, most of them would probably be upfront about it. I don't think there is really a gigantic conspiracy.

The world is a much better place since and largely because of the invention of government. We should not be looking to undo all that hard work.

For starters, the government is responsible for law and order. Additionally...

The religious institutions will never accept the Bonobo because of its promiscuity, matriarchal and peacenik ways.

Positively. There are no good governments, only bad governments and worse governments. A one world government would either become an intolerable dictatorship and totalitarian tyranny or it would be so incompetent as to be worse than anarchy. Think of the whole world rule by Haiti or Somalia.
