1984 narrative -princess Di in 1984 opening of cruise liner in my region. The pic aint too good, but audio not bad. She was the first to open it back then.

I personally liked Di in this one. At least speeches were given back then and bear in mind whilst kate is still happily pregnant lady Di, had suffered post-natal after Harry was born six months

The monarchs reign in Britain only because the people want them to. England could become a Republic inside of a week if there were a nationwide plebiscite and the the People ordained a Republic. Don't blame the royals. They do not reign by force, but by law and custom.

That's the problem people want democracy but still want to be ruled by a monarch.

Hem, the last bit was right but the first bit isn't . The people don't have a choice based on any kind of referendum, as much as the symbol of the Tudor rose and Victoria cross so on represents. Although the hearts remain true in the people the voice stands within the monarchy. No voting system would ever hand down a court order for the foreign judge, and vice versa.
Anyway, royalty is what has helped to shape our country and not to deny people that leadership. Such as the prince of Monaco, or Persia or brazil par example.

Are you saying that the British Armed Forces do not swear allegiance to the monarchy?

There already as a time when Britain had no king and was not a monarchy. After Charles I was executed. It didn't last too long. Charles II said that if he'd known the kind of reception he'd get when he returned to England, he would not have stayed away as long as he did.

Besides, I think the monarchy gives people like...stability, unity, like that. It's something constant. Like how many prime ministers have there been in the last 60 yrs or so?
