i am not someone who could be one of tom cruise's intense hollywood aspected
cultish group of fans, nor am i a scientologist at all. yet i too really wonder about
the pills and medications he was prescribed or the pills and medicines if not drugs
that may have been in his body over the past six months, that can be tested for.
i think we may have a medical report that could exonerate him or lessen any sentence
arrived at as the upcoming trial draws to its conclusion. we don't totally know what
transpired that friday. quite a few things led up to the incident, and now we who are
asperger's people too, in an indirect way are also on trial. both kids were strangers to
each other until the younger of the two moves briefly into this town by last summer...
if young odgren has never toked a joint or been exposed to the drug scene around the
edges that is omnipresent our local highschool, then we must ask deeper questions
about the precise circumstances in his life that went wrong. the head of our school
system keeps saying asperger's people tend to be non-violent...and usually are not
the aggressor in a serious harmful situation. asperger's people can be hazed... and
perhaps the younger of the two youths is not a hazer at all. this is why its tragic.

I'm surprised to not ever hear-
A 'normal' person opened fire.

Yet,
I am certain, 98 percent of crime is committed by 'normal' people.

This is a sad sad story. Has anyone heard what he was thinking?

It looks like this boy had a fascination for knives. Apparently his parents let him have a knife collection. This might be a harmless activity for a country boy or girl. When I was a teen, I liked to whittle with a Girl Scout knife.

As a parent, I have to ask, what were this kid's parents thinking? Who lets their kids have a machete, a "long knife" capable of killing someone, etc. without parental supervision? Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I believe in keeping the sharp toys and guns safely locked away, if you must have such things in the house [actually I'm against guns, but we have that pesky "right to bear arms" Amendment]. It's hard to separate someone with Asperger's from his things, but in this case, a life would have been spared.

The fact that he brought the knife to school will be used as premeditation, even though, as an Aspie, he might just have wanted it with him because he loved it. My grandma was that way about knives, too. She got stopped by security in the UN building because she had a butcher knife in her purse--fortunately with receipt. How many neurotypical people go sightseeing in NYC and buy butcher knives, then forget they have them in their purses? This was 20 years before Sept. 11, so they simply held it for her, and she reclaimed it on the way out. One day, after she was in the nursing home, my mother went through her drawers and found a razor-sharp paring knife. Mom freaked! She was afraid Grandma would get kicked out if they found her knife, so she just took it home with her. [Mom doesn't like me to tell people about Grandma and her lifelong year love affair with knives, because they will think she was peculiar. Mom also denies that Asperger's runs in our family. According to her, my son got Asperger's from his father, not me, my brother, grandmother, great grandfather, or any of the other brilliant-but-eccentric people in her family.]

A law that automatically requires a minor to be tried as an adult is a travesty... especially when the minor is disabled. I don't think it was right to even release the minor's name. The boy's medications are private, unless his lawyer chooses to make them an issue in court. Antidepressants are most likely to cause violence in the beginning of treatment. The lawyer indicated that he'd been treated for years, so they are an unlikely cause.

the town is trying to heal...
http://www.townonline.com/lincoln/homep ... 7749039103

methinks if the law if not trying to have some therapy as part of the sentense,
brings to mind a situation that reminds me of a famous dickens quote...
http://www.townonline.com/amesbury/opin ... 2876220415
...and we must not forget, the law is the law...and why there are laws.
http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/colum ... 0878034943
there has yet to a trial in full. baseless speculation contaminates a jury pool. http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/homep ... 2017234943
we now have gotten into online insights. someone has gone into a myspace site...
http://www.townonline.com/sudbury/homep ... 5411232767
if its his site, he also liked BOSTON LEGAL. From last to this BL-season, there
was an ongoing plotline + episodes that highlights an ASPERGER's person!
http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/opini ... 3685054463
this makes the story semi-official that i found in a search engine more
than a week ago. an obscure website had made this claim about finding
john odgren's myspace page. It now seems the wire services have decided
to run with the story and a local letterwriter asks "why...?" This case has
information being kept under wraps for good reason. It also may hinge on
john odgren's adolesant angst perhaps depressed excursions into cyber-space,
even though he by overt behavior tended to be off by himself... and a loner.
THE SYNOPSIS STORY IGNORs THE SHOW "BOSTON LEGAL"...
