A vicious cycle

While everyone I grew up or went to college with are all getting married and starting families, I remain chronically single at the age of 31, with the relationship experience level of an unpopular high school student. This of course repels women, as they can all tell right away that I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing (I haven't had as much as a second date in over five years). This of course leads me to never being able to gain any experience, widening the experience gap even further as I get older, and making me even less and less attractive to women. Thus creating a vicious cycle that will continue to feed on itself until I grow old and die alone and unloved.

Don't give up. I put the moves on my guy when he was in his late 20's and hadn't ever had a serious relationship and was a virgin. I liked him so I went for it and asked him out, and we've been together ever since. I thought it was actually sweet that I was his first real partner and it doesn't make him less capable. You just have to keep going to places where you can meet gals you might like and keep an open mind, and you might find the right one. This ain't the 1950's, more and more women are willing to take the lead if you're not

I've been flirting with this girl for the past couple of days, and I overheard her telling one of my friends that she would have sex with me if I weren't a virgin.

Basically, I can't lose my virginity because I'm a virgin.

Never ever tell a girl this. You can tell her after you've had sex. She'll dump you after this, but at least you'll know what sex is after this.

Some female I've known used to recommend that if you're a late male virgin you should try to bang prostitutes and escorts just to get sexual experience and gain skill, purely because of the reasons mentioned above.

People have very different opinions on virginity and relationship experience. Lack of experience usually turns off younger women, but not so much for older women in my experience. When it comes to qualities of a man, it changes as women get older. Don't think for a second that men aren't capable of changing their expectations and what they look for as they get older though.

My friends like to mention it with every new person I meet for some reason.

Possibility of sabotage. Or they think they are helping you in some strange way and trying to get someone else to help you.

Time to ditch those.

As a virgin until almost 30 and not into porn at all let me just say it took weeks before my girlfriend was convinced I really was a virgin. It's amazing that I just instinctively knew what to do in that situation. Trust me its not hard to figure out even with an embarrassing lack of experience. Just don't be too eager and you will be fine.

If this is how you let people you call your friends treat you your issues are well beyond being a virgin in my opinion

That is one piece of information you should NEVER volunteer.

I have a very low opinion of the full-of-themselves types who disrespect virgins.

Sex is a two way street. Women want to enjoy it as much as guys. Would you want to risk having sex with a new guy and not enjoying it?

Remember, a woman who has sex risks an 18 year commitment. A guy can disappear if he gets a girl pregnant, she has to be a mom.

2 words- birth control. a woman can demand that a guy put on the raincoat, so the only remaining worry is that it will be less than a fun experience with the inexperienced man. the whole thing reminds me of the thing about employers refusing to give inexperienced workers a job - I mean, somebody has to be the first one to give a guy a sportin' chance. and I WOULD be kind enough to risk sex with an inexperienced person [assuming I was experienced]. kindness is what is lacking in this whole mercenary discussion.
