the instant meal in a capsule which was totally satisfactory in a gustatory sense, would be #1 on my life of world-class achievements. instant electrical power anywhere/everywhere, would be #2.

Post-apocalyptic landscape? Been there, done that...apparently the author has never been through a category 5 hurricane.

I thought time travel would have been number 1 on the list.

I was asking Mum the other day about Flying cars not being invented yet and she said it might be difficult because how would they have lanes in the air it could be chaos with everyone flying around.

Yeah, I agree. We probably have the technology already to make a form of flying car...not the type in the movies but a variation of them. However just think of what the roads look like nowadays....now imagine all of those people FLYING! People have a hard enough time just stopping at red lights, we certainly don't want them zooming over our heads at 200 mph!

paul moller invented his molar 500 aircraft which is the closest thing to a flying car in that it can park in a garage, and take off from the driveway.

I am simple. I want self-stocking fridge, self-cooking stove/oven, self-washing clothes and self-cleaning living spaces. And a roll of toilet paper that will never run out. I think that is the most important one.

A food generator like on Star Trek that can turn out any meal you can think of.

Not like the one in 2001 that put slightly solidified goo on a plate.

eating is inefficient as it is done today. a food pill would take so much less time, just pop a pill and be done with it.

^ That would make sense if people ate just to nourish themselves. Eating is a sensory experience, most people enjoy it immensely, many too much. I think there would be a bigger market for the opposite of what you are thinking. Calorie free food that tastes and is as safe (no toxic chemicals) as regular food.

As for the topic at hand, I would like
A shower that will vaporize dead skin and oil (and maybe body hair?) w/ energy of some kind
An instantaneous transportation device
fast wi-fi across the globe
Tricorders
A dishwasher that doesn't require pre-rinsing
