OK, so that isn't the headline but it's scarier!

Quote:
A NEW worldwide movement backed by celebrities, musicians, politicians and business leaders is aiming to reverse the effects of global warming over the next decade.

Global Cool launched in London and LA today and is calling on one billion people to reduce their carbon emissions by just one tonne a year, for the next 10 years.

Boffins have found the climatic tipping point - when the climate becomes irreversibly damaged - can be turned back if global CO2 emissions are reduced by one billion tonnes a year.

Campaigners then hope cleaner, renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, water and hydrogen would have been developed.

Big names including Leonardo Di Caprio, Orlando Bloom, KT Tunstall, Pink, The Killers, Razorlight and Josh Hartnett have thrown their weight behind the worldwide effort to beat climate change. (emphasis added)

(link added)

OMG! Not the global tipping point! That goodness the Leonardi di Caprio will save us! Hopefully he will help the U.S. sign the Kyoto protocol and gut our industry! Sure it can't actually prevent global warming but who cares let's go crazy with panic!

Bet you as soon as we are not distracted by solar flares we will be panicking over some other nonsensical idea.

Great, next I'll be taking Dietary advice from Mama Cass, marksmanship pointers from Dick Cheney, and etiquette lessons from Paris Hilton.

Whatever.

OMG! Why haven't Bono or Al Gore signed on? How do I know it is true if the King of Global Warming isn't behind the proposition? OMG! OMG! OMG! What to do?!

Also, on a slightly more sane note, isn't Global Cooling a bad thing, too? I mean, obviously The Day After Tomorrow[/i], an absolutely brilliant scientifically correct movie proves that when temperatures cool down drastically that BAD THINGS HAPPEN, like the death of the Bilbo Baggins.

The sad thing is a good deal of America cares more about celebrities opinions than world-renowned scientists.

Too true. It's only celebrities that will be able to drum the message into the public, though.....
