"All kids dream a marvelous image of what they want to do. But then society tells them they can't do it. I didn't listen. I wanted to live my dream."
--Robert Ballard

"The Cosmos is all that is, or ever was, or ever will be."
--Carl Sagan

"The surface of the Earth is the shore of the cosmic ocean. On this shore, we've learned most of what we know. Recently, we've waded a little way out, maybe ankle deep, and the water seems inviting. Some part of our being knows this is where we came from. We long to return.
--Carl Sagan

"Our Society as we know it, cannot be at peace for eternity. Sometime during our happy, short lives, there will be a war of such great magnitude, that we will feel its effects until the day we die, and the day our children and their children perish from this earth."

--General Peter B. Creedon Jr, 1899

How is that for a Creedonian quote?

You have nothing, nothing to threaten me with.

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

I like this quote from Desperate Housewives from Mary Alice.

"It's not always that easy to distinguish the Good Guys from the Bad Guys. Sinners can suprise you, and the same is true for Saints. Why do we try to define people as simply Good or simply Evil? Because noone wants to admit that compassion and cruelty can live side-by-side in one heart, or that anyone is capable of anything."

I think that's a very true quote that everyone should be forced to listen to. :)

Robert Ballard helped me get into oceanography. You know, he was my neighbour's uncle. I didn't know that until after he became my idol. I found out about him through Titanic, and I later got a vhs of a documentary about the discovery of the Titanic. I used to watch it over and over again.

The first draft of my novella Organicide ended with the main character finding an old record player. He turns it on and this song comes on. He breaks down because his family, and most of humanity had been systematically killed off by Mechanicals, or Humans who basically shed their bodies in favor of robotic ones. He's survived to find the world outside of the cities to be just one big toxic desert.
