On no accounts can 'statism' be implicated for problems in David Cameron's Britain. The state here is shrinking.

How would libertarianism help people into homes who haven't got a penny to their names? By expediting their demise?

And if that baby is the exception to the rule the government might help him but being as government never really does anything but pretend to help people I doubt it will matter who is in charge.

You should tell that to people in undeveloped countries who would love to come over here and experience our government not helping.

Yes and a lot of those people come from socialist and communist countries they come here for capitalism not socialism or communism they came here because of credit and capitalism.

It's really sad. Given the amount of derelict buildings, factories, and shops closed down, you'd think better provision could be made. But no - that would be giving something for nothing, and we wouldn't want to do that, now would we? Hmpf.

Unfortunately, few of those derelict spaces are safe to live in, and squatters who take up residence in them don't seem to have the skills or resources necessary to bring them up to code. After they've lived there for a while, the conditions are even worse.

There were almost no food banks in Britain until Cameron took over. Since his coming to power they have proliferated at a rapid rate and he has praised(!) this development. This is completely political. Cameron wants an army of very desperate people who can be made to do anything, and anything can be done for them, for complete control. He is a sadist, as are those behind him.

I agree. Cameron is the worst prime minister we have seen in the UK. And he wasn't even properly elected. Even a lot of Tory voters do not like him. He is going to ensure that the gap between the rich and poor widens even further. His speech at the conservative conference was nothing more than a retelling of the 80's mantra "greed is good".

But I don't think Ed Milliband is an effective opposition leader. The next election will be another hung parliament and back room deals will ensure Cameron's government will continue to destroy our society.

unless the people finally wake up, decide we don't need any of them and throw the lot into the thames.

Most people in this country are so asleep they wouldn't wake up if a megaphone shouted down their ears.

often things have to get worse before they get better. It took millions of dead conscripts and starving masses before the sons and daughters of Russia finally rose up to strike down the fat and lazy.

With the food banks and Dave's talk of big society falling on deaf ears we're heading in that direction though,
