Hoping not to start any trouble with this thread but this is merely a question for people who are pro-gun.

Me personally I wouldn't single out one particular choice as the sole cause since all cases of gun violence have varying causes.

Poor parental upbringing. Not even a question.

Oh, so parenting is getting better? What a nice thought.

Note that this is usually an argument against gun control, since the number of guns in circulation has gone up over the same amount of time.

There are so many ways that the data on the graph could be skewed.

I'm not trying to get into an argument with you. I'm typing on an iPad and it's not worth my time to argue with somebody just for the "ego boost" I would get in return.

mass killing is because of mental illness but the run of the mill street crime which is where most of you violent crime comes from is caused by poverty.

There is no main cause for murder. The only universal connection that can be drawn from murder is that it is simply a facet of the human condition. With the correct pressure anyone can become a cold blooded killer. Unpopular as it is to face; within the human mind there is an animal desire to kill and destroy. Only society, laws, and morals stop us from unleashing the beast inside ourselves.

I blame the government not giving people like you their meds so they can formulate intelligent and rational thoughts.

See something rational and intelligent we can agree on the education system is horrible probably one of the reasons why poverty is so rampant and people chose to make bad choices. Because people are lacking good education they don't have the skills to get decent job and chose hustling on the streets because the money is easy and good. Not to mention gang culture being glorified in pop culture how are people ever going to know the right choices to make when being lied to or just not being told anything.

I agree we need free, quality education for all.

As said in the UN Declaration of Human Rights:

Quote:
Article 26.

(1) Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.
(2) Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace.

Socioeconomic factors and culture, that's what drives violence and always has.
