Hi everyone

I'm new here. I'm an Australian woman and I'm currently doing some market research in connection with a business that I want to start. I would be grateful if you could take the time to reply to my request for info on this matter.

What I would like to know is: Would you, as an Aspie, ever consider doing vacuuming work if the opportunity presented itself? Just simple vacuuming, no cleaning toilets or mopping floors. I'm trying to find out if this sort of work appeals to other people with an ASD. Personally, I find it very enjoyable and I want to know if others feel the same way.

If no, please take a moment to state your reasons why you would not consider this type of work. If yes, again, I would be pleased if you could elaborate on why the job would appeal to you (repetitiveness, sound of vacuum machine, non-social aspect etc).

Your feedback will help me enormously with the structuring of my business plan. Thank you.

No, Vacuum cleaners are way too loud and there is nothing to learn.

Also, it is very doubtful that you'd be able to charge the rate needed to pay me what I make as a technician.

That wouldn't be too bad as a short-term or temporary option in a pinch, but it's nowhere near dignified or well-paying enough for long-term work. Not unless one has no other skills or hope for skills whatsoever.

I've done maintenance which is, technically, housekeeping at McDonald's before. I didn't mind it. Vacuuming would be cool, too. Yeah, it's loud, but you can bet I'd wear some nice earphones or headphones if the company allowed it. I like being in my own world anyway so I wouldn't crave conversation from the other employees. My only issue is the gout in my legs which compromises my standing and walking. Other that that, it doesn't sound too bad.

I would vacuum and do the best job possible. Of course I would need sound protection. There is nothing wrong with vacuuming. Some people strive for a career to challenge their minds but that kind of position comes with office politics. Some people live for work and others work to live. I'm the later. I would vacuum for money and be happy to have the job.

No, I hate vacuuming. Bending over constantly makes my back hurt and the sound hurts my ears after a while.

i actually kind of enjoy dividing up a flat plane efficiently*, but the sound most vacuum cleaners make i find to be painfully irritating.

I can't stand the sound and bending over of vacuuming and the tedious moving around of people's mess (not the actual vacuuming). As one other guy said, I do enjoy mowing the lawn in nice straight lines! It is a good task in that no one can expect you to talk with hem when you are vacuuming.

No. I didn't go to school for 20+ years to vacuum floors.

if I weren't physically shot that job would be right for my absence of edumacation. when I was fit I didn't mind hard work. it was all I could do.
