I had 20 years of marginally effective psychotherapy with Dr. X. under a series of ever-changing diagnoses.

Then Dr. Y, a specialist in ASD, accurately diagnosed my Asperger's. I have since made great progress in life.

I fired Dr. X. It was long overdue, and I only wish I had done it sooner.

My doctor is great, it's just that I have never had a good therapist at my current therapy place. I would love to find a counselor that is both empathetic and understands me fully.

I hope this works out for you. I would definitely go with what your doctors say. From my understanding, we have the ability to learn to appear NT and that facade may be what your counselor sees.

I'm actually going to a university psychologist next week to help discuss some methods to help me with fixing my insomnia during exam period and to help get focused on my coursework.

I'm worried that she might make the same presumptions that your counselor did, considering I am quite good at acting nuerotypical.
