I don't care about the fact that 99% of their stuff is made in China (other than the fact that they lie and say they buy products "made in America"), I dislike them because they load government welfare rolls with their underpaid workers and their service is horrible.

China can have our toy and underwear factories and all the pollution and terrible work conditions that come along with it. The US is better w/o those jobs anyway. Again, that's not the issue.

Service is realtive to profit margins. I'm sure you can find a store with high profit margin that will give you better service but expect higher prices. Target seems alot
nicer than Walmart and they have priceing to reflect that.

Well in my town all the retailers pay the same slave wages. Their is just an infinite number of people willing to do those jobs.

Factory jobs easily pay twice what Walmart pays so saying you do not care if Walmart
buys all Chinese seems conflcit with your concern with workers pay.

If the the tax payers are taxed more or if the consumer is taxed with higher prices at the end of the day does not make much difference.

"I don't care about the fact that 99% of their stuff is made in China "

last year they had $315 billion dollars worth of sales,so even if every import from china went to walmart, it's still impossable 99% of their stuff is made in china.

http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c5700.html

$263 billion imported from china in 2006

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=WMT&annual

wal-mart total sales $315 Billion in 2006

They have stores in other counties and sell lots of food which is mostly domestic.

so much for the FACT you don't care about

Hi,

How do you like your job at Walmart? My brother, who has AS, also works at Walmart. He works in the maintenance department

As a diehard free-market capitalist, I can't really object to Wal-Mart. They got to where they are by offering prices and products superior to most other places. They deserve their success and no socialist dickhead has the right to take it away from them just because they think it's not fair.

However, I don't shop there. I find that most of their stuff is below my standards of quality, and that the prices are actually kind of high. I only go to Wal-Mart to buy dvds, though their selection could be better.

I try to support whatever local companies - but they're few and far between.

We got three Wal-Marts within a 15-minute drive. I'll go whenever I absolutely have to, or if I cannot get the item cheaper/or price beaten elsewhere/ or I can't wait a week to get it from the Web.

I haven't gone to Wal-Mart in years and I don't miss it one bit.

Driving the gas hog there + cruising for 20 minutes for a parking space: $10.00
Pain and suffering from annoying lighting, massive displays, large crowds, and strange odors: $?
Buying useless things I don't need because they look neat, are shiny, or do cool stuff, and forgetting what I came for: $100.00
Searching for and hour in the parking lot for the gas hog and getting heat exhaustion: $?

Equals: Not worth it.

My shopping mantra:

Make coffee.
Fire up computer.
Order.
Smile at the nice UPS man when he brings it to the door.
Let my son build forts with boxes.

The Wal-Mart I used to live near was pure trash. My mom and I had actually seen two fist fights there, and we hardly even went there! Just imagine all the other fights we could've missed! Plus the people were pure low-class as well. However, ironically, we really like K-Mart. The employees at our local K-Mart are really nice, the food I like is always in stock, and things are easy to find and reasonably priced. Plus there's no fights!

The one near my house is conveniently close. I know where everything is in it, so i don't get boggled by shopping. And the prices are ok. I don't shop much unless it's for food and house needs--- so I'd rather do it where I don't go mad trying to do it.

I've found some great prices on clothes there. :) But I still prefer to shop at Winners... there are also good prices there and there's more variety, thus, more stuff I like. :) I like Walmart for food though. It's cheaper than going to a normal grocery store sometimes!

I've worked there a long time ago. It was an okay place to work for a little while. At the end, however, the bosses got really pissy. The backdoor operations were all messed up. I left not long after.

Whenever I need to buy small miscellaneous things, I try to go to K-Mart.
