If it's a game, the players are athletes. Right?
Can you say Olympics MMORPG?

They are players in an competitive contest, but not in an sport, so they are not athletes.

Bowling is definitely a sport. Calling the others that is highly questionable though, they're more like just "games" instead of sports.

Well, let's find out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Associatio ... ederations
Bowling
Billiard sport

So the IOC recognizes those two sports you listed as being sports. Also the World Darts Federation is looking for IOC recognition and is supposed to get it I think in 2024? Also the World Anti-Doping Agency/US Anti-Doping Agency actually does drug tests for darts tournaments. Darts is serious business.

For horseshoes, no IOC accredited sporting federations, however local/national horseshoe federations do exist, but nothing on the world competitive level. http://www.horseshoepitching.com/

So as far as what do I think? Who cares what I think?
