I was wondering if anyone here is nonverbal or has difficulties with communication and uses text to speech software for typing on an iPad or whatever, and can give recommendations on which programs are best. I'm asking because my dad has a glioblastoma on the speech center of his brain. If it grows too much it could interfere with his ability to talk, and we found out we might be able to get him an iPad through a charity, so I thought someone who uses or has used this sort of software might know which programs were better. Thanks!

I'm sorry about your father. Must be very hard, for him and you both.

There may be apps specific for his problem, I don't know. ClaroSpeak and Cowriter US speak words as you write. CoWriter costs more, and is a little more forgiving of misspelling. Both offer word choices as you type that you can touch to select, easing the process of typing longer words. I think they are not specifically TTS exactly, but they may help. Good luck with this!
