Over the phone, or through the computer I have been mistaken for someone older than my age. In person (due to my appearance), people assume I'm younger than my age.

What's really amusing, is when I'm online (talking through text) and sometimes people will think I'm a guy.
I don't know what they base this assumption on, but it always makes me laugh.

I have a certain way with words that people associate with generations before mine. I've always "collected" figures of speech, many of which are considered rather archaic these days. When talking to older people, I'm quite often told; "Oh, I haven't heard that one for a long time." I also have a certain kind of reserved, very "English gent", kind of politeness, which has been commented on quite often.

It really interests me, because I think even over my lifetime, there are many social situations which have become far less formal than they used to be. Many times, when I hear people talking to customer service staff, I feel as if they are being rather rude and disrespectful - as if they're taking the assistant for granted. It makes me wonder if this aspect of modern society is actually more difficult to handle for autistic people than previously, when there was a more formal, and so predictable, way of dealing with people, particularly strangers.

They think I'm younger than I am, because in Public I act like Piplup, with a Piplup plushie. I'm Assuming somewhere between 4-8.

I've been called an "old soul" by several people, so I guess I act older than I really am in some way.

I am dating a (NT) man 20 years older than me, and I can safely say that we get along great. I am not really like other 25-year-olds. I think getting drunk is idiotic, I get tired easily, I'm not interested in night clubs, I like the old-fashioned way of married life, I'm not good with working technology (except for my android phone/laptop), I don't play xbox or wii games, I don't say "like" multiple times when speaking, I like exploring when on vacation rather than partying, I love country life, I like and know a lot about music from the 70's (well and 90's when I grew up), and I'm just better at clicking with older people.

Never been mistaken for someone older than my actual age, always much younger. Mostly because of my physical appearance and child like , innocent manner . I 've got trouble speaking with people so it's hard for them realise how old I might be . Other than that , I 've been always drifting apart from my age group in many ways , not just interests, knowledge but also now plans for the future . I feel pretty excluded.

Online people tend to think I'm a lot younger then I really am. One person actually thought I was 11 8O

Apparently I do look younger then I am too.

I tend to feel mentally younger than I actually am most days.
