I just finished reading his book "audacity of hope" ... I think this guy is for real.

The man taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago...thats
serious intellectual power...even for someone like me who has
a masters degree in poli sci.

I admire his life story, and I have no doubt he is intelligent to get where he so far so fast (although he may not have been in the Senate if he had faced an actual opponent as opposed to the eccentric Alan Keyes). However, his positions are pretty much standard "left-democrat," in fact even more so: In the Illinois legislature he voted against a bill that would criminalize failing to provide assistance to a baby that had escaped the womb in the case of a failed abortion. The US Senate passed a similar bill on a voice vote alone before he was elected. In the US Senate he has been the first Senator to call for passing a bill to set a timetable for a withdrawal.

I don't think he is electable in the end, but I could prove wrong.

I won't be voting for him. It would be like somebody's dog leaving gold-plated turds on my lawn.

Obama, is what the US needs, he firmly opposed the war!

The othe day i was watching CNN and a reporter likened his dress sense to Mohammed Ahmadinijad??

I think the media will choose the president. Like it did for Bush's second term

I cant imagine why anyone would believe the guy was just like Hillary.

Yes hes a liberal but hes also capable of serious deep thought. He wrote
an entire chapter about the consitution in "the audacity of hope" where
he discusses contrasting viewpoints regarding interpreting the constitution.

Not exactly focus group material, but a man who has given serious thought to issues.

Because he supports all the same policies and that's what determines the suitability of a candidate.

So true ahayes.

I'm honestly sick of the two-party system.

I think Obama is the one politician that has any sense these days.

I thought it was the, "can I have a beer with him?", personality.

I don't trust Hillary. And I don't trust anybody who's been in the government long enough to become corrupted by it.

Obama seems to be for real. Reminds me a lot of our new Governor, Deval Patrick. If the people take a liking to him (as we did here with Deval, winner by a HUGE margin), they will ignore the Press, which always wants an "establishment" candidate.

I don't drink beer. It would be the "can I hunt with him?" personality but... he's a gun control proponent so I guess I have my answer.

There is no really viable third party in the US. There are a few but they do not get that many votes too many people too lazy to change or look in new directions.
