If I were you I would confront her and ask her literally: "Tell me, why am I "text-zoned", why do you want us to be exclusively text-friends?".

But expect that she would react very badly to this and she would probably go drama and stops talking to you, but you shouldn't care, you should have blocked her ages ago. At least you would remove this boulder on your chest.

Otherwise, the whole thing is pointless, whether dating-wise or even friendship-wise.

She does like coffee, unfortunately I know that for a fact.

Anyway though, I have tried everything I could from being cold and distant to surprising her at work a couple times with small gifts. She seems appreciative, but it doesn't change her mind.

Over the last 4 years I have invited her probably a dozen times to various things

Gym
For a walk
County fair
Movies
Dinner
Lunch
Coffee
Traveling overseas(which is sort of an ongoing joke that I push too hard sometimes
There could be something else

She is very busy (2 jobs +babysitting) but once again, you're never too busy.

I have invited her out probably a dozen times over the last 4 years.

Maybe these seem like dates to her, even if I say bring a friend
Ice cream
Movies
County fair
For a walk
Lunch
Gym
Dinner
Coffee
Traveling (ongoing joke that I take too far sometimes)

I've done stupid things around her in the past, such as tell her personal things (nothing that would freak her out but not something you would tell a stranger)

Anyways,

Thanks everyone. All posts and future posts appreciated.

I've thought about being direct, but being direct over a text message makes me sick... I would much rather do it in real life but once again I can't unless I surprise her at work which I won't do again... For obvious reasons

I know, I haven't texted her since October and she hasn't texted me. However, she has retweeted, favorited, liked things on social media since then.

I normally don't think about it, it's just been the last 6 months or so.

I brought a yellow rose and chocolates a while ago to her work. She was having a bad day and I thought it was a nice surprise. A guy had already given her a yellow rose in the past, so the chocolates were just a one up. She knew about the chocolates beforehand though. ( I brought them back from Greece where I was the summer before)

That I realize was probably overkill, but once I did that I realized how unbalanced the friendship was and so I started putting in less and less effort to get down to her level.

She's a diva.

That's all I can conclude after reading this thread.

Man....she didn't initiate anything since October, I mean...seriously...wtf with you?

Uprising is right, I bet she has more than other 20 text-fans, so you're easily replaceable, she might replies you fast but she forgets your existence on this planet the moment you stop texting her. You might die accidentally one day, your corpse would be rotten and eaten by worms and still she'll never notice your disappearing even after your buddies declaring your death on FB. She's probably too preoccupied to upkeep the fans attention.

Chase someone else who cares about your existence for gawds' sake.

I agree with Boo and I just want to add that just because someone replies to your text quickly means anything. There are people out there (women especially) who are on their phone texting 24/7. The more people that text her, the better. It doesn't matter if she likes you even as a friend or not, she'll still reply quickly.

Also do avoid this 4 year long BS in the future, when you ask a girl out to do something (date or otherwise) and she says that she's busy, tell that woman, "oh okay, well why don't you let me know when you're not and reschedule with me this next week. We don't have to do anything major, just grab a cup of coffee for half an hour or so, catch up and chat, ya know?" If she doesn't reschedule then don't bother with her anymore. If a woman is interested in you, friendship or otherwise, she will reschedule. Some women will on their own accord (that is, you not telling them to reschedule but they truly want to hang out so they reschedule with you themselves without prompt and that obviously is a good sign), but I would always tell them to call me to reschedule or let me know when they're free in the next week.
If I just tell them to call me when they're free or to reschedule and don't set a limited range of time, that leaves them months upon months to toy around with me, say things like, "Oh I really WANT to reschedule with you buuut..."

Just cut to the chase. If she doesn't call or does but acts like she's busy again during that next week, then do something else. It could be that she truly is busy, but like stated above if she's interested she will call you in the future to reschedule. In the mean time you can be out trying to make other friends or find other dates, instead of crossing your fingers and waiting by the phone for this particular lady.

If I were you, I wouldn't waste an additional minute of my life over this girl.

OP, I've actually dated a girl like this and still she didn't change this ....uncaring behavior, I cut off contact with her after a month or so. Don't think things would change after meeting her up or dating her..

When the text is hot enough to heat up the phone screen.
