hey hey....30 year old guy from sweden here.
2 weeks ago....after lengthy tests and discussions, my psychiatrist told me that he suspected i had aspergers.
i had no idea what it is and ever since then i have been somewhat obsessed looking up information and overanalyzing my reactions to everything.

ive read 2 books already on the subject with me being a massive fan of reading and learning things. done all the little tests.
lets just say my mind has been blown a couple of times every day since then.

My mind was also blown when I went into assessment for Aspergers diagnosis, and came out with ADHD too. Are you seeking a diagnosis?

Welcome :D

Greetings and welcome.

For a very long time, nobody knew what was 'wrong' with me.

I am 50 this year, and as a young child, would bang my head against the wall until it bled, would only scream when I was picked up, and I learned how to read books at 3.

I went to school and was an exemplary student, but I refused to play sport, wouldn't associate with anybody, nor participate in any 'team building events' organised by the education system. I also wouldn't/couldn't look at anybody and would occasionally flap my hands around (especially when I became agitated and frustrated).

I was finally institutionalised between the age of 8-14, and the doctors told my parents that I had a mild form of Autism (the diagnosis of Asperger's Disorder wasn't very well known/common back then).

I went through my whole life wondering whether I was really 'Autistic', but I also had massive problems associated with hyper-sensitivity, overwhelming and Asocial behaviour.

I couldn't hold down a job for longer than a week (and I had many, many jobs), so it came to pass that Social Services had to send me to a psychiatrist to find out why, and why they had to keep on paying me unemployment benefits when I wasn't even looking for work anymore.

Then, in 2000, the diagnosis came; 'Asperger's Disorder' and I thought "better late than never - at least this beast has a 'label' now". The diagnosis was re-confirmed in 2004, and that was enough to put me on the Disability Support Pension.

Yeah, so that's enough about me, seeing as how this thread is not about me, but again, I welcome you.

i have always known that im a bit odd but thought nothing more of it.
as you said....everything makes alot of more sense.
i have a meeting with my psychologist next week where i will discuss my thoughts on aspergers and if i have it or not....
it will be interesting to see his observations compared to my own.
