I have a good sense of direction. I get called sometimes by people asking for directions.

This condition (topographic agnosia/topographical disorientation) is closely related to prosopagnosia, which I also have a mild case of.

That's interesting, does anything else tend to go with the problem forming a mental map and face blindness?

No. If I've been somewhere once, I can go back there anytime. Whether driving, on foot, or on a bike.

This past summer, my wife and I spent 3 weeks in Finland. I was only there once before. She has lots of family and friends there, and has been there dozens of times. I did the driving this time. The only time I needed a map was when we went someplace where I hadn't gone on my first visit. I also picked up enough of the language to read road signs.
