When I'm by myself I can do things that will get me this rush, but in the company of people nothing even remotely comparable happens. Because of that, I don't interact much with people.

Does being on Wrong Planet count as alone?. To me it doesn't because I am communicating with people.

I hear that. When I'm around people, I can't wait to get back to my room alone

It's the best of both worlds. You get to be alone and interact. Total control (usually) on if you choose to talk, who you talk to. You can stop in the middle of a sentence, go do something, and then continue. No demands.

For so many years I tried to be in the company of people.
Tried to fit in to some group.
It was the 'normal thing to do.'

There were so many trainwrecks for me there.
I'm so glad to be on my own mostly.

Of course I sometimes still am in that company, but as my own choice now.
And I fly low under the radar, get what I need, or give what they do, then on my own way again.
Happily.

It's not their faults, nor is it mine.
I prefer my own company, and a couple of true friends.

So much less energy is spent on my own.
No putting on the 'face'.

I did try.

Now you know why I prefer working for myself. No weekly meetings, no salary reviews, no silly forms to fill in if I want a vacation, and no office politics.

On my own I get lots more done.

Yeah, real life interactions can be good, but they're never as good as I am on my own.

The only interactions that work (besides first degree rels) are online. Like EzraS said, full control.
