I resent it too, and there's no answer other than you just have to do it if you want relationships

Sometimes I'm frustrated that there's not a man around. :D

Because Eureka13 and AspieOtaku reminded me of the first poem, and I can never stop at just one when it comes to Ms Parker.

Dorothy Parker wrote:
Experience

Some men break your heart in two,
Some men fawn and flatter,
Some men never look at you;
And that clears up the matter.

One Perfect Rose

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met.
All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet --
One perfect rose.

I knew the language of the floweret:
`My fragile leaves,' it said, `his heart enclose'.
Love long has taken for his amulet
One perfect rose.

Why is it no one ever sent me yet
One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get
One perfect rose.

Wail

Love has gone a-rocketing.
That is not the worst;
I could do without the thing,
And not be the first.

Joy has gone the way it came.
That is nothing new;
I could get along the same ---
Many people do.

Dig for me the narrow bed,
Now I am bereft.
All my pretty hates are dead,
And what have I left?

Unfortunate Coincidence

By the time you swear you're his,
Shivering and sighing,
And he vows his passion is
Infinite, undying ---
Lady, make a note of this:
One of you is lying.

There are lots and lots and lots of men like that. Same with game playing, and indirectness, and drama, and so on. None of these are by any means exclusively or necessarily the domain of women.

I know its a little sexist and broad stroke, but I've wanted to say that for awhile now.

I dunno about sexist. Lets just leave that out of this conversation, but I do wonder if it is a class thing. Is it just working class people who like the rough guy, I want to fix him thing or who want to emulate the rough guy to get girls? Or do middle class women like this too? Just saying because I want a man as educated and with the same level of manners I've been brought up with - yeah I know I'm being a bit snobbish, but I wouldn't look twice at an M&M mimic.

It's definitely not a class thing, could be an age thing though, all I know is that if you treat opposite sex relations like they're disposable, the success rate goes up. My old roommate is living proof of that.

I get told that I don't appear confident, but in my experience, having confidence is like a death sentence to actual talent. If I started acting confident, I'd put less effort into things like school, exercise, and everything in between.

I'm glad manners count for something though, that's something I actually have going for me.

There is a class thing, and some middle class women do chase the 'bit of rough' (this cuts across genders and sexualities). I'm speaking from a UK perspective, but I think it translates.

Most other animals have sex 'naturally'. That is, they just do it. What's more, they just know how to do it. Compared to humans, they don't have to think about the 'mating ritual', get various neuroses and anxieties - they just copulate and, usually, procreate.

Class, and the 'bit of rough': the 'cultured' view the 'uncultured' as they would other animals. For a long time, and still, this was displayed in a kind of fetishised, fascinated disgust with the sex lives of the working class. They wanted sex, and they had it. That was it. No need for a big thing about it, no need to worry about heirs, or being 'respectable', they just, well, f****d. They were 'earthy', vulgar, crude. They enjoyed sex in a way that was inaccesible to the cultured, unless they went amongst them and bedded them. You can sense a similar sensibility when people complain about single mothers - a toxic mix of class and gender hatred and libidinal envy.

The same 'natural', 'authentic' sexuality is also held to be true of the ethnic 'other' - the cultures that gave the anglo-western world the harem and the kama sutra and the animalistic sexual prowess of the black male are assumed to have a much less neurotic take on sex.

Notice the title of this thread? What I'm doing is called venting; and the next time I get frustrated over life, I'll be back to vent some more.

Funny that.
Please don't generalize.

Venting does not require sexism, which maltreats half the population. It's like saying, "I'm so totally frustrated, so I'm just gonna punch the next person I see -- and get off my back about that, man, let me be me." It is, as they say to the kids, Not Okay.

(confidentially, using "I'm frustrated" as a reason for racism, also not okay.)

Can you type up an appropriate vent for me? I'll just use that the next time I get frustrated.

Im pretty sure women say the same stuff about men when they get frustrated about men too everyone has their moments. I know at times it seems sexist both sides depending on whos venting and whoever on the opposite side is going to get offended but 95% of the time I dont think the person is sexist just frustrated and venting everyone has their sexist moments when they are pissed for sure but not sexist indefinatly.
