(I hope the questions make sense. I'm tired)

Inspired by Misslizard's observation in the publicly funded SRS thread/poll that she's 'not really either' male or female in her brain, I got to wondering how common that, and indeed gender dysphoria, might be amongst autists and aspergians.

I don't feel particularly male in how I am, be it for good or ill. I don't feel female, either. 'Maleness' in that regard feels very optional, performative.

You?

I'm attracted to males, but I didn't get the girly gene or whatever that makes you want to do girl stuff. If I woke up tomorrow and had a penis I don't think it would make that much difference.Except they seem to be high maintenance.I don't feel any real attachment to my boobs, they are just there.

I identify as male. Powerlifting, cars, and programming, are interests I have because I enjoy them, not to prove a point or anything like that.

See,I don't get how cars are just a male thing. If I had my choice between going to the mall with a bunch of girls or watching somebody take apart a Chevy 283 and rebuild it and drink beer, the latter sounds like more fun to me.On the other hand,I like growing flowers, but so do many men. What's female and male? What does someone's interest have to do with it?Isn't it because society tells little girls they should play with dolls not cars?

I am stereotypical male with stereotypical male interests and am attracted to women but still feel more comfortable around women in general.

I identify as male. However, I don't understand the whole alpha-male machismo thing that most males do. It's a completely foreign concept to me.

I'm non-binary, just neither a man nor a woman. It's not really more complex than that in my case.

I don't feel particularly gendered either, though I'm comfortable the way that I am, the massive disassociation with other males and socializing means I can't relate on any gender level. I don't see myself particularly masculine though not feminine as much. I'm not attracted to either gender, but find both if not all genders attractive.

I went with neutral since I don't quite identify with either gender...I am physically female, but in a lot of ways I don't relate to other females but I don't exactly relate to males either its like mentally I am somewhere in between. I usually don't talk about it since I feel I've gotten ridiculed for it in the past.

Extreme looking male on the outside here..

but gender neutral on the inside...

If anything as far as sexual orientation..a macho lesbian..;)

Here is a brain gender ID test that has several excellent objective measures...

for brain gender ID...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/ ... user.shtml

Both my sister and i are diagnosed on the autism spectrum and we both score..

precisely in the middle...of the test....

But i would not want to be any different than a balanced gender person in brain...

I cannot think of any better outlook in gender to look at life...

i get along with anyone in real life...

But yah..i do tend to wear folks out with my intense energy..in all ways..;)

But still..

There is no one i cannot get along with...IN REAL LIFE..

BUT IN REAL LIFE..THERE IS A LOT MORE TO COMMUNICATION...

THAN letters and words..:)

There's eyes and stuff like that...:)

And nah..i aint' got NO PROBLEM LOOKING ANYONE IN THE EYE...

IT IS OTHERS THAT LOOK AWAY...ALWAYS FIRST...

INTENSE STARE AND ALL OF THAT ..AND YAH..I CAN PROVE IT TOO AS USUAL..

RIGHT HERE...IN FACT...
;)

http://katiemiafrederick.com/2014/04/03/skeyes-of-god/

THE EYES ARE THE GATEWAY TO THE SOUL FOR ME..

I NEED NOTHING MORE than TO LOOK INTO THE EYES OF ANOTHER...

TO SEE THEIR SOUL...

SERIOUSLY..IT'S MY PARTICULAR FORM OF AUTISM ..a KIND OF..

SUPERPOWER..:)perhaps...

And sorry for the all caps..i guess it's my form of intense stare and all of that..;)2
ONLINE COMMUNICATION ACCOMMODATION AND ALL OF that2...:)

Physically, I'm female.

Beyond that, I feel gender-neutral.

I'm neither properly "female," nor properly "male."

In the video below, Stanford professor Robert Sapolsky states:
- by looking at the number of neurons in the brain in a particular region then science can confidently determine if the brain is "male" or "female".
- and trans woman who have their penises removed do not get "phantom penis" (unlike men report who have their penis removed because of penile cancer)

Start at 0:58, sorry I could not index it

Questions to think about:
1. Perhaps the "neuron count" for those that report neither gender could be in between "male" and "female".
2. Further, I would wonder for those that posted if they think their brains have the sex organs "mapped" or not i.e. if you lost your present organs would you have a "phantom" condition.

thank you for that link, that was an interesting test--and i scored in the middle, too (although a bit more towards the feminine than i might have guessed.)

i scored higher in the spatial acuity/reasoning ones (left brain) but balance it out with stuff like facial recognition and some modest verbal capacity (right brain)--possibly this explains why my brain can often seem to have some difficulty getting along with itself very effectively. this is what being bipolar and autistic gets you.

Interesting and this seems to be a pattern too..as i find that many autistic woman are better at spatial acuity..than autistic men..my sister included...

and me too..as facial recognition is actually my strength and spatial acuity is actually my weakness...

But perhaps being a non-verbal child..and relying more on non-verbal communication in visual ways rather than
verbal navigation of the world early on has something to do with that...

but..too..this is one test i have not taken again..since my recovery last Summer..so i do think i will take it again...

as my AQ..Aspie Quiz..and EQ tests all flip flopped...

and i will report back after seeing if it changed..:)from dead center....
