There is a lunar eclipse way late tonight. I've seen one before and I did not really see a clean curve from the Earth on the Moon. And nor is it as clear cut as being so-called 'blood red.' I can see how earlier humans developed all kinds of ideas about this event.

Here's a U.S. Naval Observatory website where you might be able to get times for your location.
http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/LunarEclipse.php

And if you know of another good resource, please share it with us. Thanks.

It's the end of the world as we know it.

I'm in the UK, and will only be able to catch a glimpse of the non red shadow at around 6 in the morning*, it probably won't be much but I'll still get up at around half 5 anyhow, which is very early for me as I get up at 10 most days.

We get to see it in the evening. It's a bit cloudy at the moment but hope it clears up. Looking forward to the eerie colour of totality.

Thanks everyone! I'm seeing that the total eclipses begins at 2:08 AM for Houston, Texas.

So, I'm thinking if I wake up around 1:30 AM and see the transition, that might be ideal. But then, I kind of have a busy day for tomorrow. :?
