The Tesla Coil should have been higher up on this list and the US Navy has claimed to have found a way to turn water into fuel.

Fascinating stuff ! !
When I was a lad I read about the soft glass, and remember it supposedly could be molded like clay.
As for the Tesla coil, it's difficult to separate fact from fiction, but it still could be investigated and put to use.
Interesting that the number one invention had to do with water to energy. About 8 years ago I read about some bloke who claimed to have invented an audio based system of splitting water. He said he installed it in a large motor-home and drove across the USA using only water as fuel. His claimed breakthrough was, of course, that his device used far less energy breaking the water down than the usual electrode system. I actually looked up his patent (! !) but couldn't decipher the diagrams.

Imagine if all those inventions had a chance to develop.
