Why get technical about interrupt vectors on the x86 architecture? It doesn't make sense to get technical about interrupts. Isn't a interrupt vector a pointer to a interrupt handler?

I'm in real mode, because adding support for drivers in protected mode doesn't make sense. I'm also in real mode for educational reasons. The idea is to set up the IVT table, but some how there's a confusion.
