I was raised by exceedingly conservative Christians and tried through college to conform, and to believe. However, certain ideological differences drove me away, hard. Now I simply accept that all life is connected via varying degrees of shared genes and interdependence for survival. Sort of a, "life on earth is essentially one giant organism" philosophy. I found the idea of a greater deity to be a human invention the more I studied, and far too often it has been used as a method of control over others and gathering personal wealth of some form. I also discovered critical thinking/formal argument as taught by some true old-school profs in college and found most religions lacking in applied ethics.

My parents are Roman Catholics, as is my entire family, but I am atheist because Christianity is excessively hard to understand

Meaning you do believe in some deity but have a strong dislike of any sort of organized worship of same?

I used to be an atheist but I transitioned entirely to agnostic.

I'm fairly certain I'm an atheist, but I like the idea of reincarnation, so it's sorta a combo of that.

I don't believe in any religions. I think they're man/woman made fiction by those in the past, that were afraid of their own mortality.

I am however, open to the idea that our reality could be a simulation. If humans are someday able to create genuine artificial intelligence that can rival our own, I think it then becomes likely that we also were created.

I also don't believe in god, at least how they teach it in my family's religion. I believe that everything had to start somewhere, but have no idea where or where the thing that started everything came from. Though I don't hold belief in a religion against other people, just personal beliefs. However, I do have a problem if that belief is forced on others, if people are treating others differently because of their religion, or if people are harming others because of it.

I'm an atheist. It's how I was raised, basically.

born into a catholic mexican american family, had my baptism october 1997, first communion in 2005, used to go to mass every sunday back then, then we all suddenly, mysteriously, stopped caring a few years after that. never had my confirmation, only my dad goes to sunday service now about once a month.

my grandparents still are very into it. the churches or "templos" in central mexico where they have lived and attended are much more beautiful than the contemporary stuff we have here.
